The Hydrocane is a sought after staff weapon. It is popular not because of the damage it does, or how cool it looks - but because it allows its holder to breathe underwater. This can be good for many things, including gathering herbs with Herbalism skill - some of the herbs are on the bottom of lakes, like Stranglekelp.

The Hydrocane is dropped from Viscous Fallout - the first boss in Gnomeregan.
